A crew arrives and discovers a shortage, incomplete preparation or missing access information. The office rearranges the calendar while the crew waits. The problem may not be the date—it may be the handoff that made the date look executable.
Use your actual loaded crew cost, travel, vehicle expense and office follow-up time. Add measurable rework or delay costs separately so you do not double-count.
For illustration only: two workers lose three hours each at a loaded cost of $40 per hour. That is $240 of labor time, before travel, vehicles or office time. It is not an industry average or a promised saving.
The false-start cost calculator lets you use your own assumptions. The lost crew time tracker helps distinguish waiting, supply runs, searching and rework.
Was the phase scope current? Was every required item received and staged? Had the customer or builder acknowledged the plan? Was the site ready? Was the assigned crew confirmed? Who approved release, and against which version?
Do not turn these into five new meetings. Give each unresolved handoff one owner, a due time, a reason and a next action.
You can plan a date before a shortage is resolved. You can assign a crew before site readiness is confirmed. That is preparation—not Field release.
Keep unfinished plans visible to the office, but out of Field's work view. Once readiness is confirmed, the designated person approves release. Clearing the last checkbox should not silently dispatch anyone.
If the scope or crew changes after approval, review the new basis. Already-started work remains visible with an explicit review warning.
Field submits required evidence. Operations accepts or returns the phase. A completed-looking card is not proof that the whole project is complete, and accepted work is not automatic authorization for a financial transaction.
Review several recent failed starts. Record the missing prerequisite, the owner and when the gap first became knowable. Compare wasted trips and follow-up effort before and during a limited pilot. Do not assume the same constraint or result applies to every contractor.
Try the illustrative plumbing workflow, review the plumbing project fit, or bring one job to a founder-led walkthrough. The beta requires company setup and workflow review before protected release is enabled.
Sub Structure is readiness-based scheduling for field-driven trades. Free forever for single crews — no card, no sales call.
